Napa County New Home Information
Napa County is located north of the San Francisco Bay Area. Once the producer of many different crops, Napa County is known today for its wine industry, rising in the 1960s to the first rank of wine regions with France and Italy. Napa new home residents enjoy temperatures that are warmer in the summer than Sonoma County to the west or Santa Barbara County, both wine producers. Thus, the Napa wineries favor varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Napa Valley features more than 300 wineries and grows many different grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, and other popular varietals. Napa Valley is visited by as many as five million people each year.
The northernmost town in Napa County is Calistoga and is famous not only for its fine Napa Valley wines but also for its soothing hot springs and spas.
New home residents appreciate beautiful vistas including at the north end of Napa County, the Mayacamas Mountains, where lies Mount Saint Helena, the Bay Area's second tallest peak at 4,344 feet and home to Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. At the west side of the Napa Valley is Hood Mountain at an elevation of 2,750 feet.
Napa County includes six school districts serving new home neighborhoods with approximately 2,400 students from kindergarten through high school. Colleges in Napa County include Napa Valley College and Pacific Union College.
